A Guide to Field Inspections
The Foundation and the Door and Hardware Institute have created a training program specific to the inspection requirements of the 2007 edition of NFPA 80, Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives. AHJs will better understand what criteria will meet the NFPA 80 standard. OUR SHORT TERM OBJECTIVE
The Foundation will play a leadership role in life safety through the fire-door inspection process, a concept which will provide valuable insight into the safety and security of each and every fire-rated door.

Why are Fire-Rate Doors Important?
According to a 2007 USFA and NFPA report , 116,500 non-residential structural fires resulted in 105 civilian deaths, 1,350 injuries and $3.1 billion in property damage.
